Search Engine Optimization is a complicated process, yet most businesses want to not only have a piece of Google, but dominate it. Many marketing plans now cite raising Google visibility and driving traffic to client websites as major objectives.
That being said, I'm always on the lookout for easy tips to improve SEO. One of the easiest tactics for improving SEO is including links in press releases. In fact, Joseph Miller, EON Product Manager for BusinessWire recently blogged about FAQ's regarding linking in press releases.
One of the most common errors I see in press release linking is the anchor text chosen for links. Words and phrases often seems randomly chosen, but Joseph does a nice job explaining "...try to think like a searcher. Create a list of search terms that you would expect to bring people to your site and use some of the terms you come up with." Great advice.
Do you know what keywords are driving people to your website? Are you using those words and phrases in press releases to link back to your website?
